Chris Kirby, President & Creative Director

Chris graduated with a degree in photography from Syracuse University in 1993 by turning tricks on the SU gymnastics team. After graduation he relocated to New Haven, Connecticut where he worked for a small graphic design firm. There, Chris learned the print industry, from logo design to ads to brochures to books. Crossing media, Chris began working for WTNH-TV in 1997 as a graphic artist. He soon rose to the position of Art Director, which he currently holds. As Art Director, Chris is responsible for overseeing the design and production of daily news graphics, animations, web graphics and print graphics. Basically, if it has the WTNH logo on it, the Art department put it together. He feared he would end up the Susan Lucci of the New England Emmy Awards after over 20 nominations without a win. Finally, in 2008, Chris took home the trophy for work done at WTNH.
Chris’s first experiment with independent broadcasting occurred when he married his love of gymnastics and his interest in video production together to create a show highlighting the Southern Connecticut Men’s Gymnastics Team. He produced “Gymnastics TV” for three seasons where it aired on the local public access station, NHTV, and won a Telly award in the Local TV & Cable category. Chris wanted to continue producing projects on his own, so he and his talented wife (and the “O” in “O.K. Creative) donated their services to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to produce a video to be shown at their annual gala fundraiser. The project went on to win a Telly award and a Davey award. More importantly, he and his beautiful wife were named Volunteers of the Year for their effort by the JDRF.
Recognizing the impact the internet has on disseminating information and the need for people to be more connected to where they live, Chris started North Haven News in late 2007. Written, produced, shot, and edited by Chris, North Haven News concentrates on reporting the politics, sports, and special events that affect North Haven in an entertaining and informative manner.
