A Difference Already?!
Call me crazy, but my wife and I both swear that we see a difference in Grace already. We both think she seems more stable when walking around. Before the surgery, she was like a drunken sailor all the time - she fell down a lot, and it always seemed to be a miracle that she could get around at all. Now her steps seem much more confident. She's also a lot less cranky and is interacting with us more. Today she sat down with a puzzle and actually tried putting the pieces back..., and she didn't do too badly! Before this operation, she would never stop moving (and I'm not exaggerating).
I know that it's going to be a few months before we're sure if the procedure was successful, but we also know that the doctor did drain some of the fluid in her head to normalize the pressure. Could what we've been seeing for the last two days mean that Grace has had a headache for two years?! God I hope not.
We both have our fingers crossed that this is going to really help her. We're not foolish enough to think that this is going to be a cure-all for everything that's wrong with her, but who knows? One of her doctors once said that she would have to be very unlucky to have all these things wrong with her and have them not be related somehow. Maybe this is the piece to the puzzle that's been missing?
