It's the Little Things

We take a lot of things in this life for granted. When you have a child who doesn't eat, you learn what a lot of those things are. I can't tell you how happy I was to see my daughter sitting on the couch this afternoon eating a few goldfish crackers. She may have only eaten a half dozen in the course of a half hour, but it's something I've never had the pleasure to witness before.

Here's another one. I'm sure many of you who take your children grocery shopping know that the nice ladies (or men) behind the deli counter will usually offer your kids a slice of cheese. Until today, I've always had to tell them, "No, thank you," if I'm just with Grace, or "Just one" if I have the both of them. My guess is, they probably think she has some dairy allergy (Who's ever heard of a kid who doesn't eat?!). Well today, it was just Grace, and I and I took that piece of cheese and I gave it to Grace one small piece at a time, and by the time we were at checkout, she had finished the entire slice.

Really makes you appreciate the little things.
