"Excuse me, Ma'am..."

Have I ever told you how loud my younger daughter is? I'm mean, this child shouts all the time. First thing in the morning - she's shouting, "Mommy, Mommy" or "Daddy, Daddy!" She'll wake her older sister up if we don't run in there and get her out quickly. Then it's pretty much the same thing all day. Talking loud all the time. I'm actually working on whispering with her, but she just doesn't get it.

My wife had to attend a town budget meeting the other night. It was sort of mandatory for her - she's a teacher and 10 positions have already been eliminated from next year's staff and there hasn't even been a vote on the budget yet. Her principal basically told everyone that it would be a good idea to show up. Since I work nights, Patty had to bring the girls to the meeting with her. I guess Grace was being her usual loud self, so Patty stepped into the hallway with them so as not to interrupt the meeting. Next thing she knows, a police officer taps her on the shoulder and says, "Excuse me, ma'am..., people are complaining about the noise. I'm either going to have to close the doors to the auditorium, of you're going to have to leave."

Needless to say, my wife wasn't happy.

I'll keep working on that whispering thing.
